United States
c. 1960's

Mobile of lathe turned wooden dowels and balls out of the Herman Miller workshop, c. 1960's. From the estate of the man who ran the Boston Herman Miller showroom in that period, via Skinner auction in 1997. Although there is no documented link to Charles or Ray Eames, the piece relates to the Time-Life stool designs of the early 1960's and reflects some aspect of design play in the corporate culture of Herman Miller. This mobile, and a similar one in white from the same source, are presumptive one-offs.
