Medium-sized serving tray of red Masonite (fiberboard) with birch edging. Designed and produced by Boston-area designer Franziska Hosken, circa 1948. One of the first women to graduate from the Harvard School of Design, Hosken operated a small atelier from 1947-1951 producing furniture and home accessories rendered in inexpensive materials. Her work was distributed by Knoll, Macy's and Raymor, earned several MoMA "Good Design" selections, and appeared in prestigious journals such as Furniture Forum and Arredimento Moderno. Provenance: the estate of Franziska Hosken.

Condition
Good original condition with minor wear to the birch edging and the top of the masonite. An approximately 1" scuff to the masonite on the bottom of the tray, pictured.
