Highly textured, encrusted, and hinged box by Des Moines, Iowa artist James Anthony Bearden. A heavy, lidded vessel in the form of an architecturally resonant abstract sculpture. From his Cathedral series, made in 2013.  Bearden, whose art consists of "cutting, hammering, and melting steel and bronze in an investigation of constructivist abstraction" produces work in the manner of Paul Evans.  With red glass enameling for accent color.  Mounted on a wooden pedestal.
