Lee Rosen Ceramic Spiral Pendant Fixture for Design Technics

$11,000.00

$11,000

United States
circa 1950’s

Hanging fixture in a spiral composition composed of three pierced ceramic forms of decreasing size connected by brass rods and fittings to a brass ceiling plate. Designed by Lee Rosen and made by her company Design Technics in the 1950's or early 1960's. A custom order and possibly now the only example of its kind. The hand-thrown and glazed ceramic forms are pierced to emit light and, if not used with an LED bulb, also heat. The brass ceiling plate, which has a diameter of 12 inches, is fitted with a wooden insert for stability. The overall drop for the fixture is 48 inches; the largest ceramic element measures 24 inches in height, the second largest 18 inches in height, and the smallest 14 inches in height. All parts are original including the wiring. For a similar design composed of two of the smallest ceramic pieces, see Piasa Auction, June 10 2021, Lot 52.

Condition
The ceramic fixtures are in fine condition with only very minor wear; the brass shows wear and oxidation consistent with age. Wiring is original, re-wiring recommended prior to use.
