Low armchair of walnut, painted wood,wooden dowels, and aluminum rods. Minimalist design that takes on sculptural character from interplay of geometric forms, straight and rounded elements, and colors. Martine was a postwar California designer and architect whose work appeared regularly in national and international design journals in the 1940's, 50's and 60's. Martine's furniture designs were intended to provide component parts for the indoor-outdoor lifestyle evolving in Southern California after the war. This chair is a prototype from his estate. Comes with two original cushions, not shown.
