Biomorphic sculpture carved out of black walnut by artist or craftsman James Martin, circa 1960s. Martin, who apprenticed with George Nakashima, made Craft furniture as well as a range of gently undulating, perforated wood sculptures. The present work has a small hook in the top for hanging on a wall; the facade and sides are shaped, sanded and polished, while the back is unfinished. With incised signature.
