Large acrylic on canvas by Pittsburgh artist Aaronel deRoy Gruber (1918-2011). Titled "Stop the World" and dated 1964, it references issues associated with the civil rights movement and the Great Society. Gruber, who studied at Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon) enjoyed a long career as an artist in various media, including painting and photography, and was best known for her Kinetic and illuminated acrylic sculptures.
